Wider Opportunities

(Whole Class Ensemble)

Wider Opportunities is a whole class instrumental ensemble tuition usually aimed for KS2 pupils to allow pupils to have an opporunity to learn an instrument.

The Wider Opportunities programmes has too changed its term to ‘Whole Class Instrumental/Vocal Tuition’ in order to reflect both the ‘whole class’ approach & the acceptance of the voice as an instrument in its own right.

Music Mode programes are very interactive and they are aimed to develop not only the technical aspect of music learning but also emotional and social.

Cross Curricula Approaches:

Geography: Pupils/students are taught the historical and geographical background of each of the instruments involved as well as the main characteristics of African music in general.

Maths: Also drumming helps children to learn maths. When children learn rhythm and music bar divisions, they are learning ratios, fractions and proportions.

Communication skills and speech: Performing simple musical patterns teaches a child how language is constructed. To understand the history and the background of each of the instruments involved as well as the main characteristics of African music in general.
